Its (balanced-ish) gestalt for 4E. . . sorta.
It looks a little underpowered to me at first glance. . . but I'm gonna sit down and try making a few chars with it before I pass final judgement. If I did it, I'd probably spend almost all of my heroic feats getting class abilities back.

For role playing purposes, I love it. But I'm gonna reserve judgment on power. I have a feeling that if if does go through, there will be some very nice feats for it. Though I am a little disappointed with the half elf decision to require them to take their dilettante power from another class.

Thinking about it more, I think the armor rules for HC need to be reworked... if you combine the wrong two classes (fighter/wizard), you end up more or less screwing yourself. I'd change it to:
If the two classes have different proficiency, but same armor tier (light/heavy), then go with lowest. So, a ranger/rogue would start with leather.
If the two classes have different proficiency in different tiers, then I'd give them the highest armor in the light tier. So, a fighter/wizard would start with hide.

I am also starting to realize that they are extremely weak to start off as, but given the time, you essentially have the ability of have a powerful guy, if you keep picking up the class features feat, assuming you can take it more than once.

Even if you can't, I can think of some fun things to do... Rogue/Warlock, grab the feat to pick up the 'move 3 squares and get concealment' ability. Congradulations, you just graduated from skirmisher to lurker.

Small loopholes also make them fun. Ranger/Wizard trained in nature, stealth, perception and history. Take the class benefit feat, gain training in ritual caster. congratulations, you can now cast rituals, and you technically have no idea what you are doing.

It doesn't say that you can take the class feature feat more than once. Still... it makes Wizard of the Spiral Tower a LOT better.
Orbzard/Avenger WotST? Assuming that the Avenger gives the AC boost. That the PHB2 classes aren't there is actually my biggest annoyance.

I mostly assumed thats because WoTC seems so scared that his idea wont be remotely balanced, and will have to scrap it. And while it doesnt, I have the feeling that if they want the hybrids to balance well across the board, they will have to allow the class feature feat to be taken at least twice, once for each half the class.

Well, you can already have a character with ritual caster that isn't trained in arcana or religion. Druid anyone?

Just goes on to make me think the arcana/religion prereq is bull.
