Alright. I forsee a problem after last night massive gaming. Perhaps it only seems like a problem for me?
But anyway, here it is. Posting our character sheets for everyone to see, and character backgrounds allows other players to make assumptions based on those backgrounds even if there is no reason in game for these assumptions to be made.
I am talking about Carmella, her dhampyr heritage, and the fact that The Glove seemed to have guessed what she was when even she doesn't know?
I am not too upset, because it wasn't exposed, but I just wanted to know if you, Trailfoot, have thought of anyway to stop this from happening? Especially since I wanted Carmella's background to be hinted at, but not revealed until later.

The forum for a NWN persistant world I used to play on had it set up so that only admins and mods could see posts in the 'help' forum, though anyone could make threads. . . no clue how to do that though.
As a matter of principle, I don't look at anyone else's sheets.
I think we should make it standard opperating procedure to include any relevant numbers to posts, and somehow make char sheet secret.
Thoughts?

I think that would be fine. Just say something similar to "Zeke tries to intimidate the guard. (+11 intimidate mod)"
That way the secrets that the players want to stay secret can be.

I'll agree to that... honor system?
Basically... if you don't think you can keep OOC knowledge OOC, don't look. If you do... well, ask people before you look anyway. Sheets are kept physically public in case things need to be checked, and to make my life easier.
Sound acceptable?

No, not really? Because it was on the honor system before, and even though Dan didn't mean to let something secret leak, he almost did. No one is going to "think" they could leak OOC knowledge. It happens accidentally. And if one of the reasons they are public is to make your life easier, why don't you just download them all and keep them on your desktop? In a regular tabletop game other characters don't have access to other players sheets unless they ask.

Hmm... not a bad idea. The other advantages of them being public are that both the player and myself can access them from any computer. Is hiding them worth giving up that advantage?

I can't access them from this computer unless I bring up character builder, so I am not getting that advantage. And you should know enough about your character, or print out a hard copy for yourself, so you can post from other computers.

Hmm... in addition to the ability and its modifiers, perhaps include the targets of the ability in parenthesis?
And I'm going to trust people to arbitrate effects from other players that target them themselves... just include the mechanical defense you use and its static number or modifier when you respond.
