The Empress's Pride : The Table in the Corner
Old Friends
Darrak the dwarf sat alone, drinking a rather undwarvish drink of a light white wine. He was also somewhat odd looking, for a dwarf, with short hair and hardly any beard. Heck, some might not see him as a dwarf at all, but perhaps a short stocky human on a gnome who has worked out a bit too much.
On the table, the one he always sat at when he came into the Pride, he had placed a deck of cards and a bag of dice. Every now and than he glanced at the door, as if waiting for someone.
Within moments, the door to the Pride did open, and a tall, bulky figure clad in a cloak that was obviously too short for him, stepped into the Pride. Darrak broke out in a wide grin as his old friend came towards him.
"Kuori. How have ye been, old man?" Darrak stood, and shook hands with the Goliath he had adventured with years ago.
Kuori kept glancing around, nervously. "Nervous. As always. . "the Goliath wizard said somewhat weakly as he sat down across from Darrak at the table in the corner. "Are the others coming?"
Darrak summoned a bluehaired human barwench over to take Kuori's drink order.
"Don't know. Aye sent word, O' course. But ye know them. Always hard to get ahold of." Darrak sighs, shaking his head a bit as he drains the last of his wine.
The Goliath smiled slightly, looking a bit sad. "Oh, well I hope they do come. It's been ages. I wonder how Shara has recovered?"
Darrak grins slightly, remember their last adventure where Shara had held off a band of orges while the others escaped with an unconcious Kuori.
"She didnt lose 'er leg. . If I 'eard correctly." Darrak said, trying to console his saddened friend.
The two of them continued to talk as they waited for the door to open once more. . .
