Hint #1: It's sci-fi.

Sci-fi or space fantasy? I draw a distinction. Star Wars, for instance, is not science fiction. . . science is not a major plot point, and the advanced technology of the setting is used as more of a prop than anything else. Its not even really explained at all in the course of the films, but revealed through (possibly now apocryphal) novels.

Hint #2: It's soft space opera.

And the last bit of administrative work needed to do this is done! I am now pleased to announce the second game on these forums. Futility's End: Temporal Investigations fe-ti.wetpaint.com/It's a member of the larger Futility's End universe. Set in the Star Trek universe in the year 2406, Futility's End tells the story of the Federation's slow recovery from a galaxy-wide war against the Borg Collective. It's one of the most interesting sci-fi settings I know of. This particular game within Futility's End will be set in Temporal Investigations - Starfleet's branch that is devoted to keeping the timeline intact in spite of how surprisingly common time travel - both accidental and deliberate - is in the Trek universe. The overall feel I'll be going for is "film noir in space." In 2406, Starfleet's resources are stretched thin and the present seems like too much of a challenge, so they're not putting must toward making sure that TI is equipped to protect the past. Temporal Investigations operates with both very little resources and very little oversight, putting them in an... interesting... position. I'll also be going for a different posting style with Temporal Investigations than I do with Anthros. Posts will likely be longer, but less frequent, with joint posting (two or more players writing a post together) being more common. At any rate, you're all invited to join in. TI will be systemless, but have the players writing far more of the story - controlling NPCs during their posts, creating plot elements, things like that - than Anthros is. This is going to be a different sort of experiment from Anthros.

But... we'll be playing on the Futility's End boards.
